Me, myself and I
OK, so this is me.
I am Richard J L Graham, and am 25 years of age.
I was going to do a nice quick ‘copy’ of what I had before to what I had now as I’ve refreshed my site, but realised that that is so out of date it wasn’t going to work if I did that so looks like I’m going to have to write a page from scratch.
This is quite annoying really, as I never have any idea what to write on things when asked to describe myself.
I am, coincidentally, the same height as the bullseye of a dart board needs to be above the ground, at 5’8″ (although some sources state 5’7″).
The main reason why I cannot use the old ‘about me’ page on this site, is that it is terribly out of date. I did ‘export’ the database that ran the site so I do have the posts I did, just need to copy them over. Hopefully it’ll be a fairly simple job to do. The main reason that I know it is out of date is that according to it, I work for East Devon College. Now, EDC hasn’t existed for a few years now, with it becoming ‘Petroc’ after merging with (read: taken over by) North Devon College in 2008. It is also out of date, as I don’t work there any more as I left this summer (okay, so it’s not too out of date because of this bit) and am now studying BA (Hons) Radio at Bournemouth University. In fact, as I write this, I am sitting in my room in the halls of residence, looking out of my window at the wonderful view that I’m offered in a nice town on the south coast… of the back of an industrial unit and an Aldi car park. Never mind.
So there’s that bit mentioned – I am a student at Bournemouth University.
I’m also a bit of a geek really. I’ve tried not to be, but I don’t think I can help it. In fact, on the wall of my room is a map taken from an issue of Modern Railways of the railway network of London. There is space underneath to stick up a copy of the London Underground map, but I haven’t got one of an adequate size at the moment. See, I’m also a bit of a London Underground fan. I have attempted (and failed) the ‘Tube Challenge’ twice, as well as take part in a lot of the smaller challenges that are around with it.
I don’t really know what else to say actually. I play the guitar too. I did IT and Photography at college, both BTEC National Diplomas (not at the same time, that would’ve been silly and possibly impossible). I haven’t got any qualifications – so far – in the course I’m doing here at University, so I guess I got on on the strength of experience, having volunteered with Devon Youth Service for a number of years on their radio project, and for the last few years also being on the engineering team of an RSL radio station in the summer.
This page is actually longer than the old one, but it is a bit more rambly. I tend to do that sometimes. Ah well.
